Every city here gets 5 or fewer extreme cold days a year (below 20°F), and median rent stays under $2,400 a month. We rank them by a blend of weather and affordability, with a small nudge for parks.

common questions

What counts as an "extreme cold day"?
A day where the daily low drops below 20°F (-6.7°C). Source: NASA POWER and Open-Meteo ERA5 daily archives, 2014 to 2023.
What about hurricanes and storms?
Not currently in the model. Several cities on this list are in hurricane-prone regions; that's a real tradeoff worth weighing alongside the weather scores.
